Pope Benedict XVI left the public with a heartfelt message during his annual Christmas address this morning.
The pope delivered the speech earlier today in St Peter’s Square in Rome. He questioned whether people still have time for God in this technology driven generation, and appealed for the Church to be given “esteem” in the coming new year.
He asked that peace should be restored in Syria, which is “reaping innocent victims” in this tumultuous time.
The pontiff spoke of the tribulations in China, and urged that their government should respect religion. This comes after reports of the Chinese government’s harsh treatment of Catholics in the country.

“The great moral question of our attitude towards the homeless, towards refugees and migrants, takes on a deeper dimension: do we really have room for God when he seeks to enter under our roof?”- Pope Benedict XVI
