Nigerian Bishops Concerned Over Mass Condom Handouts

19 Dec

Comdoms-360x340Bishops have expressed their concern over various foreign organisations and government agencies distributing condoms in bulk around the country.

The issue was raised by Rev. Gabriel Dunia, Health Committee Chairman of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria. Dunia commented that the action was a ploy to actualise ‘population management’ under the pretext of providing health care or reproductive health services to Nigerians.

Recent reports state that more than three million condoms have been obtained to be handed out at a Christmas Carnival in the village of Calabar by the Cross River State Agency for the Control of HIV and AIDS.

Church of England Leaders Fight For Women Bishops

12 Dec

Members of the Church of England have expressed their dissatisfaction with their current stance with female bishops.

The General Synod, an organisation who consider and approve legislation affecting the entire Church of England rejected the proposal to admit women into the episcopate. The House of Bishops who met in Lambeth this week at the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury discussed the decision made at last month’s General Synod.

In a bid to reach an alternative verdict, the House of Bishops are already drawing up new proposals ahead of the next General Synod meeting next July.
